The Weekly ☆ Character Showcase is an article series where we introduce one character from the Dragon Ball universe each week.
This week we're taking a look at everyone's favorite hybrid Saiyan—it's Gohan from the Frieza Arc!
Story
In order to bring Piccolo back to life after he was killed by Nappa during the Saiyan invasion, Gohan, Krillin, and Bulma head to Namek to gather its Dragon Balls.

Not long after touching down, Gohan and Krillin encounter members of the Frieza Force.
Knowing that they're clearly outmatched, the duo hide in wait, but upon seeing the brutality that Frieza's soldiers inflict on the innocent Namekian people in order to steal the Dragon Balls, Gohan flies into a rage, kicking Dodoria square in the face before taking Dende, the sole survivor, and fleeing.

Dende tells them of Planet Namek's Saichoro, who upon meeting the warriors, unlocks their potential, leading to a huge increase in power!

In an unexpected turn of events, Gohan and Krillin join forces with the Saiyan Prince Vegeta in order to defeat the Ginyu Force, who were called in by Frieza as reinforcements.

As the battle rages on, Frieza transforms into his final form and takes on Goku, and when all hope seems lost, Gohan uses his last bit of power to distract Frieza and buy time for his father to gather energy for the Genki-dama.

Once Goku fulfills the legend of the Super Saiyan, he orders Gohan to take Piccolo and retreat back to the ship.
Later, a newly revived Shenron sends Gohan and the others from Planet Namek back to Earth.
