The Weekly ☆ Character Showcase is an article series where we introduce one character from the Dragon Ball universe each week. This week, Cell evolves into his semi-perfect form to wreak even more havoc!
This is the form that Cell achieves after tracking down and successfully absorbing one of his "siblings", Android 17.
This Second Form grants Cell unbelievable power, but he continues his quest to become perfect and remains fixated on absorbing his final target: Android 18.
(From Tale 373)
Android 16 valiantly fights Cell to protect his two Android companions and seems to have the upper hand in their first battle, but after transforming into his Second Form, Cell quickly defeats the gentle giant with his newfound power and speed. Cell then attempts to absorb Android 18, but Tenshinhan arrives just in the nick of time and manages to hold him off using his formidable Neo Kikoho.
(From Tale 373)
Goku, who had been monitoring the situation from high up on Kami's Palace, comes to confront Cell and then escapes with the fallen Piccolo and Tenshinhan using his Teleportation technique.
(From Tale 374)
Cell remains obsessed with becoming perfect and goes on a rampage while searching for Android 18, destroying island after island in the process in an attempt to draw her out.
(From Tale 376)
The next warrior to challenge Cell was the Saiyan prince himself, Vegeta. Even Cell's incredible newfound strength was no match for the power that the self-proclaimed "Super Vegeta" had unlocked by training in the Room of Spirit and Time, and Cell quickly found himself on the brink of defeat.
(From Tale 379)
Because Cell was created using cells collected from Vegeta and the universe's strongest fighters, he knew all about the Saiyan's love of combat above all else. Cell cleverly uses this to his advantage by enticing Vegeta with the prospect of a glorious battle if he helps him achieve his Perfect Form. In a stunning turn of events, Vegeta takes Cell up on his offer and even prevents his son, Trunks, from stopping the diabolical villain, allowing Cell to finally absorb Android 18 and transform into his Perfect Form!

Tail Swipe
Cell whips his tail around to attack his foes.
He uses this technique against Vegeta, but the Saiyan prince manages to evade it with ease.
(From Tale 379)
Taiyo-Ken (Solar Flare)
This technique allows the user to release an intense flash of light that blinds their opponents.
Cell blinds Trunks, Krillin, and the others with this technique and then uses the opening it provides to absorb Android 18.
(From Tale 381)
Absorption
Cell opens the tip of his tail and absorbs Android 18 to power up into his Perfect Form.
(From Tale 381)
This form of Cell was meant to play a larger role?!
Akira Toriyama's favorite Android character was actually Second Form Cell, to whom this article is dedicated. Apparently Toriyama's editor during the Cell Saga complained about this version of Cell, going so far as to say, "This guy looks like an idiot! We need to make him reach his Perfect Form as soon as possible!" As such, we may never know what plans Toriyama originally had in store for Second Form Cell...

→Preview: Next week Cell powers up even further! Come see what happens!
