Granolah is the sole remaining member of the Cerealians, a race of aliens who lived on Planet Cereal before their entire civilization was wiped out by Saiyans invading under the orders of Frieza as part of the Frieza Force. One day, the Heeters, an organization serving as the source of Granolah's mercenary work, informed him that Frieza had been resurrected! Seeing his chance at revenge finally within reach, Granolah gathered the Cerealian Dragon Balls and wished to be made the strongest warrior in the universe.

The Heeters, on the other hand, were secretly plotting to usurp control of the universe from the shadows. With his newfound strength, Granolah now posed a threat to their grand scheme, as did the warriors who defeated Moro—the Saiyans Goku and Vegeta. Sensing an opportunity to rid themselves of both obstructions in one fell swoop, the Heeters devised a plan to turn Granolah's thirst for revenge against the two Saiyans and have them destroy each other.

As Granolah began to lose ground in his battle against Vegeta and his powerful new form, he decided to end the battle with a devastating, double-edged attack that could've cost his own life. At that moment, Monaito—the Namekian who raised Granolah after his mother was killed—intervened to prevent him from making a drastic mistake, revealing the shocking truth of Planet Cereal's invasion forty years ago.

As it turns out, none other than Goku's father, Bardock, was present during the assault! Seeing his own newborn son in Granolah, he turned his back on his orders and protected the young Cerealian, his mother, and Monaito. However, the ones originally responsible for the order to attack Planet Cereal, the Heeters themselves, stepped in personally to see the job done, killing Granolah's mother in the process.

Just as Granolah realized that his thirst for vengeance had been misplaced all these years, the true culprits—the Heeters—appeared before him. To see their plot through to success, the Heeters had also collected the Cerealian Dragon Balls and wished for the clan's youngest brother, Gas, to become the new strongest warrior in the universe! Granolah and Gas then engaged in an earth-shaking battle... Just who would emerge as the universe's true strongest warrior?!

Mustering up all the power he had left, Granolah delivered what seemed to be a finishing blow upon Gas. Not willing to give up on his ambitions of universal domination just yet, the elder brother of the Heeters', Elec, removed the inhibitor device around Gas' forehead to unleash his unfettered, primal power! Gas flew into a rampage, attacking friend and foe alike, until Elec reminded him of the promise he made forty years prior to never lose again, bringing him back to his senses with complete control of his incredible power.

Thanks to Goku's quick thinking, the heroes were able to buy themselves some time to recuperate, during which they were able to gain new information on the battle that took place forty years ago from Bardock's personal Scouter that had been left behind on Planet Cereal!

After falling from Goku's fierce attack, Gas dug deep into his own resolve to unleash his full power at the cost of his own lifeforce! The shocking transformation inspired concern even among his own brothers and sisters—except for Elec, who watched on with sadistic glee.
