The "Weekly ☆ Character Showcase" is an article series where we introduce one character from the Dragon Ball universe each week. In this third article, we'll be taking a look at the one and only Kamesennin as he appeared in the Goku Training Arc!

With his trademark turtle shell and sunglasses, Kamesennin is a funky and somewhat lecherous old man. He gave Kintoun to Goku as thanks for saving Umigame the turtle.

When Goku and Krillin entered the Tenkaichi Budokai, Kamesennin also competed in the tournament disguised as "Jackie Chun" with the intent of giving his two students a higher level to pursue.
Goku and Kamesennin both made it to the grand final match, but the old master emerged victorious, showing Goku and Krillin that no matter how strong they get, there'll always be someone stronger in the world.

Techniques Used

Kamehameha
The signature technique of Kame School martial arts, the Kamehameha is created by gathering the latent energy in one's body and releasing it in a focused blast from the hands.

As a requirement of his training, Kamesennin demanded that Goku bring him a nice "young gal". He went to look for something more stylish to wear for entertaining his prospective guest, and when he opened his closet door, we saw that it was packed to the brim with turtle shells!
