The Weekly ☆ Character Showcase is an article series where we introduce one character from the Dragon Ball universe each week. This time, we're running an exposé on Jackie Chun, the alter ego of none other than Goku's master, Kamesennin!
Story
In truth, the "Jackie Chun" persona is simply Kamesennin wearing a wig.
To show his pupils, Goku and Krillin, that as strong as they'd become, there are still plenty warriors out there in the world who are more powerful than they are, Kamesennin dons a disguise and enters the 21st Tenkaichi Budokai alongside them under a false name with the intention of knocking them out of the tournament.

His first opponent in the tournament proper ends up being former desert bandit Yamcha, who he is able to easily defeat via ring-out with a burst of wind generated with the force of just a single hand!

Round two brings Jackie face-to-face with one of his targets: Krillin. Things don't go quite as planned, though, as Jackie falls victim to Krillin's trickery and leaves himself open to a well-placed kick that sends him hurtling out of bounds, forcing him to fire a Kamehameha to propel himself back into the arena! Once his feet are planted firmly back on the ground, he puts Krillin out of action with a brisk karate chop.
Needless to say, onlookers were quite shocked to see this no-name competitor wield the Kamehameha, a technique that only the great Kamesennin was known to be capable of!

Jackie also encounters Namu, who had been defeated by Goku in his round and rendered unable to purchase water to bring back to his drought-stricken village with the tournament's prize money. The martial arts master digs into his arsenal and unleashes a range of techniques like Yoiko-Min-Min-Ken (Sleepy-Boy Technique) and Bankoku Bikkuri Sho (Lightning Flash Surprise), but he is still unable to clinch a victory against Goku.

Things escalate once more when Goku catches a glimpse of the full moon above, causing him to transform into a Giant Ape and go on a rampage! Jackie then has no other choice but to charge up a maximum power Kamehameha and blow away the moon itself to reverse the transformation!

The fierce clash rages on with neither warrior willing to give an inch to his opponent, until a collision of kicks puts them both master and student flat on their backs. Each warrior struggles to stand up and claim victory, but despite Goku's best efforts, he's unable to get back up. Jackie manages to keep himself standing and declares his victory, putting an end to their arduous battle at last.

Although he never reveals his true identity, Jackie still carries himself with the same cheerful, carefree attitude as Kamesennin. He even swipes the microphone from the announcer before his bout against Krillin to treat the audience to a little song and dance!
