Bora and his ancestors have defended Karin Tower and its surrounding lands for generations.
He lives together with his son Upa at the base of the sacred tower.

He put his life on the line to protect Karin Sanctuary when the Red Ribbon Army sent Colonel Yellow and his troops there to search for the Dragon Balls.

Despite being his foes, Bora reverently buries the fallen Red Ribbon Soldiers that had attempted to invade his home.

When Colonel Yellow takes Upa hostage in another attempt to steal Bora's Dragon Ball, Goku comes to the save the day.
To express his thanks, Bora entrusts his Four-Star Ball to Goku and tells him of a mysterious hermit that lives atop Karin Tower.
He goes on to tell the young Saiyan about the Sacred Water possessed by the hermit, said to increase the strength of any who drink it many times over.

Bora also faces off against Taopaipai when the assassin comes to Karin Sanctuary to defeat Goku. Bora fights resolutely, but tragically falls in battle to the killer's cruel attacks.

Later on, Bora is brought back to life when Upa makes a wish upon the Dragon Balls that Goku had assembled.

He continues to protect the sanctuary even in his old age!

When Goku gathers energy from people all over the universe for a Genki-dama that can finally take down the wicked Majin Buu, Bora and his now grown-up son, Upa, both happily throw up their hands to lend their energy. Although more than 20 years had passed since he first met Goku, Bora still looks as strong and dependable as ever! We even get to see a glimpse of a tiny boy in the background who strongly resembles Upa when he was young, suggesting that he might be Bora's grandson!
