A Lot of Attention Was Paid to the Hair! Gohan Beast!

――This lineup consists of seven characters from Dragon Ball Super: SUPER HERO, but which one was the hardest to make?

Definitely Gohan Beast. There were all sorts of complications when it came to coloring his hair. I wanted to convey the razor-like effect his hair had that contributed to his powerful presence, so we used transparent materials with a bit of silver mixed in. But when we got the sample back it felt too different from how he looked in the movie.

I wanted to convey the unique impression I got from Gohan's form, but since we only had my memories of the color to go from, translating that to a figure was very difficult. At the end of the day, we just followed the design for Gohan Beast as closely as possible. That was the best way to recreate him in this lineup.

Pay Close Attention to the Color of Orange Piccolo's Skin!

――Orange Piccolo appeared in DRAGON BALL ADVERGE SUPER HERO, and he's back again in the DRAGON BALL ADVERGE 16 lineup.

Just like his jumbo-sized counterpart, Orange Piccolo's arms are a deeper shade of orange, and that was hard to pull off. The sample we got back was totally different from the color we had asked for, to the point that Piccolo's entire body was dark orange. So we kept going back and forth from there until we got the coloring you see now.

We also thought a lot about how to recreate his physique from the movie. We made him about a size bigger.

――Even the soles of his shoes are thicker. You paid a lot of attention to detail!

We definitely did. We strive to make the shoes for all the characters different, like Vegeta and so on. Even though their proportions are distorted, that doesn't mean we simplified anything. It may be a small detail, but it's exactly because it's a small detail that we pay so much attention to it. That's what this series is known for.

Dr. Hedo Makes His Long-Awaited Debut!

――Who's your favorite character from the movie?

Hmmmm... I like Dr. Hedo. Or Maybe it's Gamma 2... But maybe that's because I liked the relationship between Gamma 1 & 2... Picking a favorite is too hard (laughs).
The three of them just wanted to be superheroes. I liked that purity about them. So rather than a single favorite character, Dr. Hedo, Gamma 1, and Gamma 2 are my favorite trio.

Actually, Dr. Hedo was not planned to be in the lineup before I saw the movie. Even though he's part of the bad guys, he's not the main threat that the heroes fight, so based on our past figures, we ordinarily wouldn't include him. I thought his shape was cute when I first saw the trailer, but when I saw him in action during the actual movie, I knew he had to be in the lineup.
