The Weekly ☆ Character Showcase is an article series where we introduce one character from the Dragon Ball universe each week.
This week, we shine the spotlight on a nefarious ninja who's full of tricky techniques, Sergeant Murasaki!
Sergeant Murasaki is General White's second-in-command in the Red Ribbon Army.
He guards the fourth floor of Muscle Tower, the Red Ribbon's northern base.
Despite being a skilled user of a wide range of ninja techniques, he comes off as being a bit of a goofball...
(Tale 58)
Sergeant Murasaki takes on Goku when the young Saiyan infiltrates Muscle Tower's fourth floor. He begins by unleashing a ninja star surprise attack from the trees, but Goku finds his hiding place in a flash. Flustered, he uses Ninja Concealment Arts to try to hide himself, but this strategy also fails to go according to plan when he mistakenly uses the wrong side of his camouflage sheet.
(Tale 60)
Goku also sees through his Water Stealth Technique, so the ninja decides to dash forward at full force to make it a battle of speed.
The young Saiyan has no trouble keeping up though, so Murasaki decides to drop caltrops to slow him down. Goku thinks fast, and quickly puts on some wooden sandals to counter even this wily obstable.
(Tale 60)
General White is furious when he learns what has happened and loses his temper with Sergeant Murasaki, which makes the ninja master really get serious.
First, Murasaki attacks Goku with his ninja blade, but the lad uses Nyoibo to pull off a devastating counter. Next, he pretends to fight barehanded to get Goku's guard down before using a boomerang projectile to get off a sneak attack.
(Tale 61)
Still finding himself at a disadvantage, Murasaki uses The Legendary Ninja Skim and Tatami Mat Flip in an attempt to put some distance between himself and Goku, but this doesn't even manage to discourage the young Saiyan warrior. Finding himself in a truly dire situation, the ninja busts out his trump card, the Split Technique.
Although this technique appears to create four more copies of Murasaki, they are actually his four identical brothers! The ninja siblings then unleash a combined assault on Goku, but the lad comes up with his own potent version of the Split Technique and takes them out one after another.
(Tale 62)
Back to just his lonesome, Sergeant Murasaki frees Android 8 from his bonds near the top of the tower and orders the towering mechanical man to defeat Goku. Much to the ninja's chagrin, Android 8 refuses to perform the heinous deed; despite his scary demeanor, it turns out that the Android has a heart of gold!
(Tale 63)
Enraged, Murasaki declares Android 8 to be a failure and moves to detonate the bomb inside his body with a remote, but Goku intervenes to destroy said remote and also delivers a brutal punch for good measure.

Ninja Concealment Arts
Deploys tree-print camouflage sheets and fake rocks to conceal the user's location.
Water Stealth Technique
A technique where the user utilizes a bamboo tube to breath while underwater.
Goku countered this technique by pouring hot water down the tube, which made Sergeant Murasaki abandon his hiding place and jump out of the water.
The Legendary Ninja Skim
The user equips floating shoes on their feet to enable them to effortlessly walk across bodies of water.
Tatami Mat Flip
Sergeant Murasaki used tatami mats as a shield against Goku's ninja stars, which worked great...until he ran out. The ninja ultimately took a direct ninja star hit to his noggin.
Split Technique
A technique intended to shock foes by appearing to split into 5 copies of the user. However, in Murasaki's case he calls in his four identical brothers to fight with him.
His blade is named "Legendary Sword Sasanishiki"!
Murasaki seemed to be quite proud of this swordsmanship, but he gets his trusty sword snapped in two by a brilliant strike from Goku using his own weapon of choice, Nyoibo.
