The Weekly ☆ Character Showcase is an article series where we introduce one character from the Dragon Ball universe each week.
This week we are visited by one of the most formidable —and stylish— members of the Frieza Force, Ginyu!
Ginyu is an elite member of the Frieza Force and the leader of the Ginyu Force.
He can change his Power Level at will and can reach a staggering level of 120,000 when he's going all out, making him far and away the strongest Ginyu Force member.
He brings his team to Planet Namek upon orders from Frieza himself, and in true Ginyu Force fashion they arrive on the scene by striking a breathtaking Special Fighting Pose.
They then get right down to business by tracking down the renegade Vegeta and recover the stolen Dragon Balls for Lord Frieza.

(Tale 273)
Ginyu then transports his precious cargo back to Frieza while the rest of the Ginyu Force battle it out with Vegeta and his allies.
(Tale 277)
Frieza is overjoyed at collecting all seven Dragon Balls and tries to make his wish for eternal life, but the attempt fails as a special Namekian password is needed to summon Porunga...
In the meantime, Goku arrives on Planet Namek and somehow manages to take out one Ginyu Force member after another.
Furious at hearing that his precious underlings have been defeated, Ginyu buries the Dragon Balls and heads to take on Goku with Jiece in tow.
He checks the Saiyan's Power Level with his Scouter and isn't fooled when the device states that it is only 5,000, estimating instead that Goku's true power must be around 60,000.
However, even the captain can't hide his shock when Goku uses the Kaio-ken technique to further boost his Power Level all the way up to 180,000!
(Tale 285)
Ginyu has an ace up his sleeve, though: the Body Change technique! He inflicts a grievous injury to himself and then uses this devastating move to swap bodies with Goku, and in the process, gain an even stronger body to use!
(Tale 286)
(Tale 287)
The body swapped Ginyu then trades blows with Vegeta, Gohan, and Krillin when they come to steal back the Dragon Balls.
To Ginyu's dismay, he is unable to unleash the power contained in Goku's stolen body due to not being used to controlling it just yet.
(Tale 289)
This puts Ginyu in a real pinch, so he tries to use the Body Change attack again, this time on Vegeta! Goku (in Ginyu's wounded body) just barely manages to jump in the way of the technique, which reverts both fighters back to their original bodies.
(Tale 290)
Ginyu still hasn't given up on getting a Saiyan body of his own and tries once more to Body Change with Vegeta, but this time Goku has the idea to chuck a Namekian frog in the way to thwart the move. In the end, Ginyu ends up as a charming green amphibian! What more could you ask for, right?

"Dragon Ball" Tale 272
Body Change
Ginyu shouts out "Switch!!!" and fires a dazzlingly beam of light that lets him swap bodies with his hapless target.
He really takes his poses seriously!
Guldo, Recoome, Burter get defeated by Goku and his allies, leaving Ginyu and Jiece as the only remaining members of the Ginyu Force.
They do their usual Special Fighting Pose to get pumped up before destroying the renegades, but the pose, in Ginyu's words "...just doesn't cut it when there are only two of us."
Furious at this slight to his beloved Force (and pose), Ginyu flies off to get revenge!
(Tale 283)
On a side note, Ginyu is apparently a great dancer! He even offers to perform his dance of joy for Lord Frieza to celebrate getting all the Dragon Balls back, but Frieza repectfully declines...
(Tale 277)
