The Weekly ☆ Character Showcase is an article series where we introduce one character from the Dragon Ball universe each week.
This time, we're visited by Fan-Fan from the Dragon Ball anime!
While training with Kami, Goku visits the past and meets a girl named Fan-Fan.
After making progress in his training under Mr. Popo, Goku is sent to the past to train with other talented martial arts masters through the Time Room, a place where all time is created.
Once in the past, Goku encounters a mysterious young man who is trying to peek at Fan-Fan while she bathes. This man is actually the younger version of Kamesennin, and is apparently in love with Fan-Fan! In addition, Goku learns that the prideful young Kamesennin is currently training under Mutaito, the greatest martial artist in the world.
With Kamesennin's help, Goku goes to meet Mutaito and begins training under him. For the first part of his training, he is told to practice separating the water cascading down from a waterfall. During this training, Goku discovers a scarf belonging to Fan-Fan (she was doing laundry upstream) and returns it to her.
Seeing that Goku is super sweaty from his training, Fan-Fan wipes the sweat from Goku's cheek as a sign of her gratitude, which sends Kamesennin's fellow pupils into a jealous frenzy. It turns out that one of these disciples is none other than the younger version of Tsurusennin, and that the wily martial artist had sent Fan-Fan a love letter proclaiming his love for the lovely maiden!
Tsurusennin demands an answer from Fan-Fan. However, despite being told about his dancing prowess, she turns him down, telling him to "...find another partner. My dance card has already been filled.
Seeing Fan-Fan tend to Goku and show affection towards the lad sends Tsurusennin into a rage! Tsurusennin kidnaps Fan-Fan and takes her to Dead Field, even creating a wall of fire to block the way. He also instructs the watching Kamesennin to call Goku for a showdown.
Goku uses the fruits of his training to create a path through the fire and Fan-Fan seizes upon the distraction to launch a counterattack of her own on Tsurusennin's henchmen!
Mutaito then arrives on the scene, and our heroes manage to successfully rescue Fan-Fan. Hurray!

In addition to her beauty, she's strong-willed and independent!
The younger versions of Kamesennin and Tsurusennin both fell head over heels for Fan-Fan. Fans know how strong both of those martial artists became, but it seems like Fan-Fan could beat both of them in a battle of wills. She even had the courage to tell off Tsurusennin and his cronies to their faces!
