The Weekly ☆ Character Showcase is an article series where we introduce one character from the Dragon Ball universe each week.
This week we are honored to be visited by one of the wisest beings in Dragon Ball, Saichoro.
Story
Saichoro is the oldest being on Planet Namek.
Thought to be the sole survivor of a cataclysmic climate shift that occurred on the planet in the past, Saichoro managed to save his race by laying eggs that then hatched into Namekians.
He now lives high atop a cliff in his old age so that he may keep a watchful eye on the planet.

When we first meet Saichoro, he is grieving the deaths of his children at the hands of Frieza's forces during their relentless search for the Dragon Balls...
The young Namekian Dende brings Krillin to see Saichoro, and the elder gives him a Dragon Ball once he deems the Earthling to have pure intentions.

Just by placing his hand on Krillin's head, Saichoro could see Krillin's past, and even awaken his latent hidden potential.

Saichoro then did the same for Gohan, too.

The elder Namekian could also sense the Ginyu Force approaching the planet, and asked his loyal protector Nail to help Krillin and Gohan against this new, terrifying power.

Sensing Frieza's approach, Saichoro also unlocked Dende's latent power so he could go help the Earthlings faster.

Frieza threatens Saichoro to make the Namekian teach him how to get his wish granted by the Dragon Balls, but Nail intervenes.
Nail stalls for time, and during his clash with Frieza, Dende makes it back to Krillin and Gohan. The young Namekian helps them to resurrect Piccolo and bring him to Planet Namek with the first two wishes.
It is at this point that Saichoro's lifespan finally comes to an end, causing the Dragon Balls to turn into stone.

Later, our heroes use the Dragon Balls on Earth to resurrect everyone who was killed by Frieza and his underlings, which also brings Saichoro back to life. This also restores the Namekian Dragon Balls, and Kaio North seizes on this opportunity to communicate with Saichoro via telepathy to decide what the third wish should be. In the end, Saichoro instructs Dende to use the final wish on the Dragon Balls to "send everyone to Earth but Frieza... and the Saiyan called Son Goku".

While reading Krillin's mind, he discovers that Kami created a set of Dragon Balls on Earth after fleeing there. Shocked, he blurts out "It must have been the child of Katatz!" It appears that the being that became Kami "was a scion of the Dragon Clan... those who created Dragon Balls."
