Life as the Demon King's advisor isn't all fun and games, however...
When Piccolo's newest creation Cymbal is killed by Yajirobe, Piano initially dismisses the idea that one of their wicked clan could lose, saying "How could there possibly be anyone in this world able to defeat one of us...?" Piccolo immediately accepts the situation, however, and bellows out "Then how, pray tell, did Cymbal die?!!!" in rage.

Piano is also astonished when he learns that another Demon Clan warrior, Tambourine, has been defeated by Goku.

Enraged as the deaths of his demonic offspring, Piccolo vows to destroy this new enemy himself and orders that their flying base be taken to where they were slain. Piano and the Pilaf Gang stay aboard the ship while his master fights Goku, and Piano calmly states "Now do you see the greatness of the lord Demon King?" when Piccolo quickly overwhelms Goku with a shocking show of evil power.

Later, when Kamesennin attempts the Mafu-ba on Piccolo in a desperate attempt to seal the Demon King away, Piano recognizes the technique immediately and exclaims "D-Don't... Don't tell me...!!"

Tragically the Mafu-ba fails, and Piccolo ultimately gets his youth restored by Shenron. Piano can be seen cheering the Demon King on from the sidelines.

Piano then accompanies his master when he goes to assault King Castle.
The Demon King forces the World King to crown him as the new ruler of the planet, and Piano gleefully prepares cards numbered for each of the 43 provinces. Piccolo plans to draw one card at random each year and destroy the corresponding province... Well, they certainly don't call him "Great Demon King" for nothing!

Meanwhile, Goku has climbed Karin Tower and trained to defeat the wicked Piccolo. Now finished with his intense training, the lad arrives at King Castle and challenges him directly.
Piano watches the fierce battle from close nearby, but gets crushed beneath his master's body when Piccolo gets sent flying by a devastating punch from Goku.

After getting his youth restored, Piccolo has no more use for the Pilaf Gang and tells them to get lost. He also instructs Piano to take over the helm of the flying base, so it appears that, true to his pterodactyl looks, he is indeed adept at "flying" through the sky!
