The Weekly ☆ Character Showcase is an article series where we introduce one character from the Dragon Ball universe each week. This week, we're taking a look at one of the most accomplished shapeshifters in all of Dragon Ball, Oolong, as he appeared in the Goku Training Arc!
Oolong is a boy with the visage of a pig who can shapeshift into various things. Though a student of the Southern Shapeshifter School in the past, he was expelled for stealing a female teacher's underwear. He constantly chases after women, and would transform into a giant ogre to threaten the nearby villagers into giving over their daughters one by one.
(Tale 5)
Goku makes a deal to eliminate Oolong in exchange for the village's Six-Star Dragon Ball. Upon seeing Goku disguised as a village girl, Oolong changes from his ogre form into a sophisticated gentleman.
(Tale 5)
However, when he discovers that Goku is a boy, he suddenly transforms into a gigantic bull.
(Tale 5)
Just as it seemed that Oolong and Goku were about to face each other in combat, it turned out that Oolong can only stay transformed for five minutes. Thus he quickly runs away and returns to his original form.
(Tale 6)
Because he needs a one-minute break to transform again, Oolong buys time by tricking Goku and then transforms into a ramen and chopsticks-wielding robot. Goku gets fed up with the constant bluffing from Oolong and beings to call him out, and Oolong finds himself in a world of hurt when he accidentally sticks his finger in his own hot soup creation.
On top of that, he is hit by a village kid with a slingshot, which exposes him as actually being extremely weak.
(Tale 6)
Oolong transforms into a bat and then a missile as he attempts to escape, but his transformation time runs out and he is left in his original form again.
(Tale 6)
He is then forced to apologize to the villagers and release the girls he had abducted.
(Tale 6)
Bulma decides to bring Oolong along on the journey to find the Dragon Balls, thinking that his transformation technique will be useful. On the way to Fry-pan Mountain, he tries to make an escape attempt. But thanks to Bulma being able to give him an upset stomach on command via her specially-made PP Candy she tricked him into eating, he has no choice but to stay.
(Tale 7)
When the group is attacked by the bandit Yamcha, Oolong is reunited with Puar, his classmate from the Southern Shapeshifter School. And with Goku defeated by Yamcha, Oolong turns into a fly to get away, only to get the smackdown from Puar, who had transformed into a flyswatter.
(Tale 8)
Later, in order to thank Kamesennin for putting out the fire on Fry-pan Mountain, Oolong transforms into Bulma.
(Tale 15)
And when Goku is cornered by Toninjinka, he runs away, leaving Goku and the others behind.
(Tale 17)
Oolong goes to the Pilaf Gang's Castle with Goku and his friends to retrieve the stolen Dragon Balls, but they all are captured. Disguising himself as a bat, he manages to escape the prison cell. He interrupts Pilaf, who is trying to summon Shenron and make his dreams of world domination into a reality, which he interrupts with his wish for a hot babe's panties.
(Tale 19)
(Tale 20)
Oolong is once again captured by the Pilaf Gang. But Goku, who transforms into a Great Ape after seeing the full moon, destroys the dungeon and allows everyone to escape.
(Tale 22)
Goku's clothes had been destroyed, so Oolong lends him the pants he had been wearing.
(Tale 23)
In hopes of meeting lots of girls in the city, Oolong decides to live with Bulma, Yamcha, and Puar at Bulma's complex in West City.
(Tale 23)
At the 21st Tenkaichi Budokai, he reunites with Goku and even cheers him on from the audience.
(Tale 35)
