The latest chapter of Dragon Ball Super is hitting store shelves across Japan in V Jump's Super-Sized May Edition on Thursday, March 21st, which will see the long-awaited conclusion of the SUPER HERO arc!

The SUPER HERO arc began with a manga-exclusive prequel of Trunks and Goten acting as superheroes and will wrap up with some interesting developments that take place after the events of the movie! Let’s take a look back on the whole story thus far!

Saiyaman X-1 & X-2, Move Out!!

Inspired by their favorite video game superheroes, Trunks and Goten have been busy protecting the city as the superheroes Saiyaman X-1 and X-2 while also continuing their lives as high school students. After solving a case one day, Trunks ends up in possession of a mysterious disk, which leads to a showdown between the two Saiyamen and an army of androids who've come to take the disk back!

The intense battle with the androids develops into a direct confrontation between our heroes and Dr. Hedo!
Dr. Hedo activates a colossal dinosaur android, Dinodroid 1, to greet them, but the Saiyaman duo manage to take it down using some impressive teamwork.
Afterwards, a mysterious figure known as Magenta makes contact with Dr. Hedo and requests his cooperation in taking down some bad guys. But this is just a ruse; his real goal is to resurrect the evil entity known as the Red Ribbon Army!

The Red Ribbon Army Attacks!

Six months after the fateful meeting of Dr. Hedo and the Red Ribbon Army, Piccolo gets attacked by Gamma 2, an android sent by the evil military organization.
Piccolo evades Gamma 2’s finishing blow and feigns his own demise, and then uses the opportunity it provides him to stealthily follow his mechanical adversary back to his base. Once there, Piccolo learns of the Red Ribbon Army’s nefarious plot. The Namekian quickly makes up his mind to prepare for an upcoming struggle!

While Piccolo puts things into motion, the Red Ribbon Army decides their next target: Gohan! The nefarious villains kidnap Gohan's daughter Pan and an infuriated Gohan follows them back to their base. But this too was all part of Piccolo's master plan to awaken the half-Saiyan's true power!

Battle at the Red Ribbon Army Base!

In order to get Gohan to regain his lost power, Piccolo and Pan work together to make it look like the tiny hybrid Saiyan is in grave peril, and their plan works like a charm! Gohan's burst of anger powers him up into his "Ultimate" form, and he has a fierce showdown with the formidable Gamma 1. As the battle rages on, Gamma 2 joins the fray to support his partner, causing Piccolo to come to Gohan's aid!
Previously, Piccolo made a wish to Shenron and had the dragon unlock his latent potential, but despite fighting valiantly, he still finds himself knocked out by a counterattack from Gamma 2...

Just when things look dire for the Namekian, Shenron's little "extra" activates! Piccolo becomes bigger, badder, and more colorful than ever as he awakens into a new form, "Orange Piccolo"! He then overpowers Gamma 2 with a single mighty blow.
After witnessing Orange Piccolo’s strength, Magenta and his Red Ribbon cronies give up any pretense of being heroic. Seeing this, the Gammas realize they were on the wrong side all along and renounce their alliance with the evildoers!
It seemed like everything was heading to a peaceful resolution, but then the newly activated Cell Max appeared...

Band Together, Warriors! It's Time to Take On Cell Max!

Trunks and Goten transform into the heroes of justice, Saiyaman X-1 and X-2 to face off against the rampaging Cell Max. Seeing this, the Gammas join the fight! And Goten and Trunks attempt Fusion! But none of their efforts have any effect on Cell Max, and this turn of events forces Gohan and the others to join the battle.​

Faced with Cell Max’s extreme durability, Gamma 2 decides to charge in for an all-or-nothing attack. But although Gamma 2 is able to deal some serious damage, Cell Max remains undefeated.

Gohan’s Awakening!

Piccolo determines that Gohan is the only one who has a chance at defeating Cell Max. In order to buy time for Gohan to focus his Ki, Piccolo takes on Cell Max alone!

Piccolo puts his life on the line to slow down Cell Max, and winds up taking a devastating counterattack that knocks him unconscious. At that moment, a stupendous power pours forth from Gohan as he transforms! As the wild, primal force begins to stir within him, Gohan awakens into his new "Beast" state!
​

Piccolo regains consciousness and manages to bind Cell Max once again! Gohan takes this chance to fire off an attack at full power! And the attack was none other than Piccolo’s signature move, the Makankosappo: Special Beam Cannon, which he aimed right at Cell Max's head!!
​

Thanks to Gohan's Makankosappo: Special Beam Cannon, the warriors at last prevail over Cell Max! And thus, the world was saved once again.

Faceoff Between Goku and Gohan?! Don't Miss this Throwdown!

Although Cell Max may have been defeated, the Red Ribbon Army remained. Magenta’s right-hand man, Carmine, as well as Soldier Number 15 are still at large! A chance encounter allows Carmine and Soldier Number 15 to learn of Saiyaman X-1 and X-2's strength. Through some smooth talking, Carmine ropes the two of them into his plan to fight Gohan.

With the Saiyaman duo in tow, Carmine makes his way over to Gohan’s home. Upon catching sight of Carmine, Gohan is immediately ready for battle, transforming into his Beast state.
​

Having sensed the powerful Ki emanating from Gohan's Beast form, Goku makes his appearance via Teleportation. Wanting to see the power of Gohan's Beast form for himself, Goku proposes a mini tournament! Trunks, Goten, and even Carmine's crew join them for a Teleportation trip to Beerus's Planet.
​

The first round is between Gohan and team Trunks and Goten! They start off evenly matched, but after Trunks and Goten attempt to power up through Fusion and fail yet again, the fight comes to an end. The tournament then moves on to a father-son faceoff between Goku and Gohan!
​

Between Goku's Ultra Instinct and Gohan's Beast form, this fight is a true clash of the titans!

As the two throw down, the force of their blows is enough to deform the landscape and shake the very planet itself... But both of them are still holding back! Just who will emerge victorious?!
