Story

Yakon is a magical beast under the control of the evil warlock Babidi.
This reptilian-esque monster thrives in the dark and has the ability to eat light energy.

Yakon faces off against Goku on Stage 2 of Babidi's spaceship, and the beast wastes no time in taking the fight to the Saiyan with the fearsome claws on his arms and legs! Goku dodges in time, but his poor shirt is not as lucky...

To give his minion an edge, Babidi uses his magic to transport the fighters to Yakon's favorite place, the pitch-black Dark Planet.

Yakon can see even in absolute darkness, and so expects his prey to be blind and helpless on this new battlefield, but Goku manages to tell what the beast is doing by feeling the flow of tiny air currents.

Goku then "lightens" things up a bit by going Super Saiyan, but Yakon seizes the opportunity to devour the light emitted by the transformation. Turns out that Saiyan energy is pretty tasty, as Yakon exclaims "That was delicious!! I've never eaten such filling light!!" after finishing the meal.

Yakon gets greedy and asks for seconds, to which Goku cheerfully replies "I'll give it to you!"
Things look bad for a second, but it turns out this was all part of Goku's plan to defeat the monster by overloading it with energy, which works to explosive effect.

Trivia

Even Dabura and the Supreme Kai considered Yakon to be a mighty warrior!

Dabura is shocked by Babidi's decision to unleash Yakon on Stage 2, exclaiming, "Yakon?! Already?!"
After Goku goes Super Saiyan in the battle, Babidi gets suspicious and personally uses the biggest type of energy meter he has to read the Saiyan's power, which is revealed to be 3,000 Kiri. It seems that even the formidable Yakon tops out at 800 Kiri, which makes it clear just how far our heroes managed to come in their training!
