Story

Mezu is a red ogre who protects his little corner of Hell alongside his blue counterpart, Gozu.
Mezu is also the self-proclaimed second-fastest denizen of the underworld, outsped only by the mighty Enma himself!
The ogre meets Goku when the Saiyan falls asleep and gets knocked off of Serpent Road, upon which Mezu remarks to his partner, "Hey Goz, I bet we could have a lot of fun with that guy don’t ya think?!"

Mezu challenges Goku to a game of tag, and promises to show him the secret passageway back to Serpent Road if he can win.
The red ogre is so confident in his speed that he taunts Goku by saying, "Well? Can you feel your legs burning yet?"

It looks like Mezu has the advantage, but Goku distracts him by threatening to eat fruit from Enma's tree, which throws the ogre off enough to allow him to be tagged.

Trivia

Mezu returns later on to observe the battle against Majin Buu!

Mezu appears again in Episode 280 to watch the battle against Majin Buu together with the other ogres and deceased souls. While watching, he recognizes Goku and exclaims "Well no wonder he was able to beat me! What a guy!"
