Story

As the name implies, this character is a major in the Red Ribbon Army.
This large fellow is known for two things: towering over Goku and his trademark sunglasses.

In order to rescue the chief of Jingle Village, who had been captured by the Red Ribbon Army, Goku busts into their stronghold, Muscle Tower.
Within, he finds Major Metallic waiting for him as the guard of the third floor.

Major Metallic offers a powerful punch by way of greeting, which Goku easily evades.

Goku then immediately hops up onto Major Metallic's shoulder and lands a punch at point blank, knocking him down.
He quickly gets back up and attempts to crush Goku in his grip, but Goku is able to use his impressive strength to escape.

Although Goku lands a solid hit with a flying kick, Major Metallic remains unbothered, showing a remarkable sturdiness.
Major Metallic returns the favor with an impressive punch of his own, then attempts to finish things off with a good old-fashioned stomping.

Goku gets up and gets back in the fight, landing a headbutt on Major Metallic, who again doesn't flinch, but instead responds by launching rockets from his mouth straight at Goku.
Although it seemed Goku had been blown away by the missiles, it turns out he was able to dodge them at the last second.

With his head blasted off by a Kamehameha from Goku, Major Metallic's mechanical body is revealed, leading to the shocking revelation that he is in fact a robot.

The headless henchman fights on, launching a Rocket Punch at Goku, but his acts of battery come to an end along with his own battery.

Trivia

Is Major Metallic one of Dr. Gero's androids?

In a past interview, Akira Toriyama stated, "All of the weapons used by the Red Ribbon Army are Dr. Gero's creations". This might mean that Major Metallic is one of several androids created by Dr. Gero.
