The Weekly ☆ Character Showcase is an article series where we introduce one character from the Dragon Ball universe each week. This week we're taking a closer look at Pan's Machine Mutant companion, Gill!
Goku and his pals meet Gill, a Machine Mutant, on Planet Imegga. His serial number is DB4649T2006RS.
Goku names him Gill since he often says "Giru! Giru!"
Equipped with artificial intelligence, Gill gains energy through eating other mecha. Additionally, Gill can absorb the functionality of the mecha he consumes.
After Gill gobbles up the Dragon Radar that Trunks dropped, he takes on the abilities of the device. So, the crew take him along on their journey to search for the Ultimate Dragon Balls.
Gill becomes close with Pan, and the two often joke around and get into squabbles. So, when the young girl gets lost on Planet Ruudeze, Gill desperately searches for her, even taking on a huge monster to save her!
But as it turns out, Gill is actually a Machine Mutant created by the nefarious Dr. Myuu, who's plotting to take over the universe. Gill only befriended Goku and the others to lure them to his home base on Planet M2!
When General Rildo's attacks turn Goku and the others into metal plates, Gill brings them and their battle data directly to his creator.
However, the mutant machine hadn't actually turned traitor, and he later comes to the team's rescue. It was all just a ploy he planned with Trunks to expose Dr. Myuu's plot!
Gill then helps the others collect all seven Ultimate Dragon Balls and travels with them to Earth.
Gill then supports Goku and the others by using the Dragon Radar to locate the Evil Shinrons that appeared due to the overuse of the Dragon Balls.
"Dragon Ball GT" Episode 3
He's equipped with a ton of functions!
He could fly by retracting his arms and legs, the center of his body could open and close, allowing him to fire missiles, and when the team got turned into metal plates, he took out a device for melting metal and restored them to their original forms!
Also, he's pretty great at games. He's undefeated against Pan, with 50 straight wins!
