Vegeta proves to be no match for Android 18, and when Piccolo and the others try to intervene they are similarly taken out of the fight by Android 17. Krillin is surprised by the mercy the Androids seem to be showing to the defeated warriors by not finishing them off, but that pales to the shock he gets when Android 18 plants a kiss on his cheek before flying away.

Krillin offers Senzu Beans to his allies who were wounded during the battle with the androids. Seeing Piccolo fly off, Krillin correctly surmises that he has gone to fuse with Kami.

Krillin and Trunks discover Dr. Gero's laboratory and destroy the larval Cell, putting an end to the current dimension's version of him.
The blueprints they find in the lab reveal that the androids are implanted with an emergency shutdown system, and Bulma develops a controller to activate the shutdown protocol, giving it to Krillin.

In the meantime, Cell absorbs Android 17 and evolves into his Second Form.
While Vegeta and Cell are locked in battle, Krillin runs into Android 18, but he is overcome by his feelings for her and finds himself unable to activate her emergency shutdown system.

A furious Krillin attacks Cell, now in his Perfect Form, in a blind rage but to no avail, and heavily wounded, he eats a Senzu Bean to recover.

After Cell regurgitates Android 18, Krillin takes her to Kami's Palace, where she eventually recovers. Soon after awakening she bluntly insults Krillin, asking, "You think you have a chance with me, you shriveled shrimp?"

After calling forth Shenron and using the first wish to revive everyone killed by Cell, for the second wish Krillin asks that Android 17 and 18 be returned to normal humans. However, Shenron is unable to grant that wish, so instead Krillin asks for the explosive devices implanted in the two androids to be removed.
