Jan. 25, 2026 (JAPAN) — Today, at “Dragon Ball Genkidamatsuri”, an event held at Makuhari Messe in Japan, it was announced during the live stage “Exclusive Announcements! GENKIDASTAGE Part 2,” that the anime Dragon Ball Super, original work, story, and character design by Akira Toriyama, is set to begin anew as Dragon Ball Super: Beerus in Fall 2026!

Dragon Ball Super: Beerus, a project that was started a few years ago, is the newly ENHANCED edition of the anime Dragon Ball Super. ENHANCED by the latest visual expression, every scene, especially the battle scenes, is even more immersive, providing a more faithful and detailed reproduction of the original work by Akira Toriyama, and it will deliver a quality that is sure to fully satisfy audiences.
In addition, the SUPER Launch Trailer and SUPER Launch Visual for this title are being released at this time. Dragon Ball Super will begin anew as Dragon Ball Super: Beerus. The ENHANCED edition of Dragon Ball Super unfolds!

Dragon Ball Super: Beerus is the ENHANCED edition of the TV anime Dragon Ball Super, for which Akira Toriyama created the original work, story, and character design. The project features extensive new cuts, revisions to existing scenes, a complete re-rendering of all footage, newly recorded dubbing with added score and sound effects, and a full reconstruction of the story. Living up to the name ENHANCED, this edition employs the latest visual expression to deliver greater power and immersion across all scenes, especially the battle sequences. The result is an ENHANCED edition that expresses Akira Toriyama’s original idea and worldbuilding more accurately, that will be broadcasted with highly satisfying quality.
The pinnacle of the DRAGON BALL 40th Anniversary, “Dragon Ball Genkidamatsuri” is being held today at Makuhari Messe. At the “Exclusive Announcements! GENKIDASTAGE Part 2,” with Ms. Masako Nozawa, voice of Son Goku, Mr. Koichi Yamadera, voice of the God of Destruction Beerus, and Executive Producer of Dragon Ball, Mr. Akio Iyoku, in attendance, it was announced that Dragon Ball Super: Beerus will premiere in the Fall of 2026. During the stage event, Ms. Nozawa expressed her excitement, Mr. Yamadera couldn’t hide how surprised he was, and they shared in the joy of Dragon Ball Super: Beerus beginning with all of the fans watching the stage.

The SUPER Launch Trailer and SUPER Launch Visual for Dragon Ball Super: Beerus were also unveiled during the stage event. The SUPER Launch Trailer opens with the God of Destruction Beerus in a long, deep sleep. Targeted by Beerus, the strongest being in the universe, Earth is in grave danger, thus Goku and his allies must rise up to protect it. Where will this epic battle between Super Saiyan God Goku vs. Beerus end up? The trailer shows not only the God of Destruction Beerus and Goku, but also Vegeta and Whis, and the rest of Goku’s allies.
The ENHANCED visuals promise a tense, edge-of-your-seat experience.

Dragon Ball Super Begins, Anew!

Dragon Ball Super is embarking on a bold and ambitious new start with the ENHANCED edition, Dragon Ball Super: Beerus. Another new development is the brand new SUPER anime Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol, which was also announced on the same day at the “Dragon Ball Genkidamatsuri” on-stage event, “Exclusive Announcements! GENKIDASTAGE Part 1.”
Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol is the story that follows the “Universe Survival Arc” of the anime Dragon Ball Super that aired between 2015 and 2018. It appears in the manga Dragon Ball Super as the “Galactic Patrol Prisoner Arc.”
