The long-awaited Nintendo Switch™ version of "Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot" goes on sale September 22nd, 2021—i.e., tomorrow! In celebration, we've been taking a look at how the various scenes and locations from the manga were depicted in the game, breaking things down into four distinct themes. For our final theme, we're spotlighting a couple of famous scenes that add so much to the legacy of Dragon Ball!
After watching Krillin die right before his very eyes at the hands of Frieza, Goku's anger erupts and triggers his very first transformation into Super Saiyan in an epic, genre-defining scene that changed Dragon Ball forever. And now it's back again for "Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot", only this time it's game-defining!
Until his transformation, Goku had been on the receiving end of some devastating blows as he attempted to take down Frieza, who was only utilizing 50% of his true power. But after going Super Saiyan, Goku was able to turn the tides and put the diabolical Frieza on the ropes! After Frieza vents his frustrating, saying, "Blast him! If I could just hit him once!", Goku stops trying to evade his attacks and instead opts to stand his ground with a stoic declaration: "Hit me."
Displaying unrivalled bravery, Goku stands defiantly and survives a direct headshot from one of Frieza's attacks.
The development team worked extra hard on recreating and perfecting the golden aura that radiates from all Super Saiyans, so be sure to bask in the Super Saiyan glow for yourself in-game!
One last scene we'd like to highlight is the tear-jerking farewell between the father-son duo of Vegeta and Trunks. In the moments before he sets off to take on Majin Buu, Vegeta, knowing full well that this battle would claim his life, embraces his beloved son for the first time. With Trunks somewhat at a loss, the warmth of Vegeta's expression as he says to his son, "Take care...Trunks," sure does give us goosebumps!
In the manga, Trunks' expression was captured as he looked up at his father, but now in "Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot" you can relive this touching moment from Trunks' perspective!
The Nintendo Switch version of "Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot" finally goes on sale September 22nd, 2021. Be sure to get a copy and experience all these iconic Dragon Ball scenes and more with stunningly beautiful graphics for yourself!
