The World Travelogue series puts the spotlight on some of the most memorable locations in the world of Dragon Ball. In today's article, we're trekking all the way down to the southernmost landmark on the central continent, the blistering Fry-pan Mountain!

With Gyumao's great castle resting atop its summit amidst eternally bellowing flames, Fry-pan Mountain is truly a sight to behold! It was formerly known as "Pleasant Mountain" and lived up to its name as a peaceful place with a temperate climate, but it's said that one day a fire spirit fell from the heavens and set the mountain ablaze, transforming the entire area into a sweltering furnace. Goku and his companions sought out Kamesennin to get a special fan called the Bashosen in order to extinguish the fires, only to find when they asked him that he'd accidentally thrown it out! The elderly martial arts master then literally took matters into his own hands and blew out the fire using his signature Kamehameha. Unfortunately for Gyumao, however, he overdid it a little and ended up blowing away the entire mountain too!

〇Gyumao
Living in his castle on Fry-pan Mountain, Gyumao was feared by many and called an emperor of demons, but in actuality he was the second pupil of Kamesennin! Unable to return to his castle due to the furious blaze, he went in search of his former master, who possessed the one item capable of snuffing out the flames.

〇Chichi
Gyumao's only daughter. She first encountered Goku during her search for Kamesennin, and afterwards they both made their way to Kame House together. She ended up falling in love with Goku along the way and resolved to one day become his wife.

〇Kamesennin
Having thrown the Bashosen away, Kamesennin stepped forward to quell the inferno on Fry-pan mountain himself. He succeeded in extinguishing the fire using a powerful Kamehameha, but also wound up blowing the entire mountain into smithereens!

〇The Island Where Cell Achieved His Perfect Form (Southeast of Fry-pan Mountain)
Cell absorbed Android 17 and went on the hunt for Android 18, chasing her to this area. He knew she had to be on one of the many islands dotted throughout the archipelago, so he began blowing them up one by one in an effort to draw her out.

And there you have it! Fry-pan Mountain and Goku's house are relatively close to each other, so Gyumao is probably able to come and visit his daughter and grandsons quite often. Incidentally, it's not clear what happened to all the money and treasure Gyumao had stashed away in his home after it was destroyed by Kamesennin's Kamehameha, but it seems he still has enough to help support his son-in-law and his family.
