The Weekly ☆ Character Showcase is an article series where we introduce one character from the Dragon Ball universe each week. This time, we're meeting the pale mechanical menace known as Android 19!
Android 19 was one of the Androids created by Dr. Gero for the purpose of eliminating his arch nemesis, Goku.
His databanks are full of information on Goku and the others' battles on Earth, meaning he has extensive knowledge about all their Power Levels and special moves.
He first appeared alongside Android 20 when they attacked an island to the southwest of South City.
(Tale 338)
When Goku tried attacking him with a Kamehameha, Android 19 was able to use the energy-absorbers installed in his palms to convert it into more power for himself!
Android 19 was also able to exploit the fact that Goku was suffering from a heart virus at the time and overwhelmed him during their battle.
(Tale 341)
Luckily, Vegeta showed up just in time to fight Android 19 in Goku's stead. He fared much better against the Androids thanks to them not possessing any data on his new Super Saiyan form, and in the end he was able to destroy Android 19 with his ferocious Big Bang Attack.

Beam Attack
Android 19 is able to unleash high-powered energy beams from his eyes. He used this capability in his battles against Goku and Vegeta.
(Tale 342)
Energy Absorption
Using the energy-absorption devices installed in the palms of his hands, Android 19 is able to steal energy from his opponents and turn it into extra power for himself.
He can also absorb Ki-based attacks like Goku's Kamehameha.
(Tale 341)
Flight
As with the other Androids, 19 is capable of flying without the use of Ki.
(Tale 340)
Android 19 was based on a doll?!
Did you know that Android 19's appearance was modelled after a doll that was on display in the command room of the Red Ribbon Army's headquarters? Apparently it came from the spoils of one of the army's past conquests and its unique design made enough of an impression on Dr. Gero for him to remember it years later.

→Preview: If Android 19 has anything in common with next week's character, it's that they both look great in headwear!
