The Weekly ☆ Character Showcase is an article series where we introduce one character from the Dragon Ball universe each week. This time, we're meeting the pale mechanical menace known as Android 19!
Story
Android 19 was one of the Androids created by Dr. Gero for the purpose of eliminating his arch nemesis, Goku.
His databanks are full of information on Goku and the others' battles on Earth, meaning he has extensive knowledge about all their Power Levels and special moves.
He first appeared alongside Android 20 when they attacked an island to the southwest of South City.

When Goku tried attacking him with a Kamehameha, Android 19 was able to use the energy-absorbers installed in his palms to convert it into more power for himself!
Android 19 was also able to exploit the fact that Goku was suffering from a heart virus at the time and overwhelmed him during their battle.

Android 19 was based on a doll?!
Did you know that Android 19's appearance was modelled after a doll that was on display in the command room of the Red Ribbon Army's headquarters? Apparently it came from the spoils of one of the army's past conquests and its unique design made enough of an impression on Dr. Gero for him to remember it years later.
