The latest installment of the hit manga Dragon Ball Super is being released in V Jump's super-sized May edition, which is set to hit shelves on Saturday, March 19, in Japan! This time, Goku and Gas' battle intensifies!!
Before you find out what happens next in our heroes' struggle against the devious Heeters, let's take a look back at the events of the Granolah the Survivor Arc so far!
The arc's survicor in question, Granolah, is a Cerealian who was working as a bounty hunter for a shady organization known as the Heeters. Many years ago, his home, Planet Cereal, was ravaged in a brutal attack carried out by a group of Saiyans and the Frieza Force, leaving Granolah with a burning desire for revenge against them both.
Upon hearing that Frieza had been resurrected, Granolah saw his chance to avenge his planet and fellow Cerealians in reach at long last. He assembled the Cerealian Dragon Balls and wished to become the greatest warrior in the universe—a wish that was granted at the cost of dramatically shortening his own lifespan!
The leader of the Heeters, Elec, was plotting to use the Frieza Force to conquer the universe, but when he found out about Granolah's miraculous powerup, he knew that the Cerealian posed a threat to his plans. He would also need to dispose of the Saiyans Goku and Vegeta, who had defeated Moro. And so to rid himself of all three obstacles in his path in one fell swoop, Elec conjured up a sinister scheme to exploit Granolah's hatred of Saiyans to trick him into fighting the two, and with any luck, they would destroy each other without him having to lift a finger.
With Elec pulling the strings, Goku and Vegeta were lured to Planet Cereal, where Granolah was waiting, and a vicious battle broke out between them! Each side employed their most powerful techniques against the other—Granolah with his unequaled power granted by the Cerealian Dragon Balls, Goku with his refined Ultra Instinct, and Vegeta with his new Ultra Ego form attained through training with Beerus!
During their battle, Monaito, a Namekian living on Planet Cereal who raised Granolah, intervened and told Granolah the truth about what happened on the day the Frieza Force attacked. As it turns out, the ones responsible for the invasion were the Heeters themselves, and that it was in fact a Saiyan, Goku's father, Bardock, who had saved their lives!
Now that Granolah had learned the truth, the Heeters were forced to step out of the shadows to execute their plan in person! And to make sure the job got done, Elec had used the Cerealian Dragon Balls to turn his brother, Gas, into the new strongest warrior in the universe!
Having become even stronger than Granolah, Gas overwhelmed Goku and the others with ease. Granolah was knocked out by a powerful attack from Gas, but Vegeta rushed to his aid and delivered a rousing speech that gave the Cerealian the resolve he needed to stand and face Gas once more! From there, Granolah fought toe-to-toe against Gas in an all-out showdown, and even landed a devastating attack on the Heeter!
Elec determined that Gas might actually lose at this rate and decided to turn the tables back in their favor by removing the limiter that Gas wears to keep his primal instincts in check. With his unfettered power unleashed, Gas lost control of himself and went on a wild rampage, attacking friend and foe alike!
Elec stepped in once more and reminded Gas of the promise he made to never lose again, allowing him to return to his senses with his full power intact as the true strongest warrior in the universe!
Afterward, Granolah not only sustained a critical injury at the hands of Gas during their ensuing battle, but he was then also shot in the back by Elec! He fell from the air into a lake and sank below its surface.
Goku tried to rush in, but he was trapped in some kind of stasis by Gas. Seeing that there was no other option, Vegeta gave Goku the last of his energy, allowing him to break free and re-engage with Gas!
Goku managed to evade a flurry of Gas' weapon manifestation attacks while waiting for his opportunity to counterattack. Gas, on the other hand, was beginning to feel frustrated with the way Goku fought and his apparent lack of fighting spirit—it felt nothing like the fateful battle from 40 years ago in which he was defeated by Bardock.
Finally, Goku found his opening and managed used his Teleportation technique on Gas! Jaco happened to be on a nearby planet, and so Goku was able to lock onto his Ki and transport both Gas and himself there.
Now on a new battlefield, the showdown between Goku and Gas will continue in V Jump's super-sized May edition, which is set to release on March 19 in Japan! Will Goku be able to utilize his mastery of the Teleportation technique that he'd built up over the years to get the edge on Gas?!
Their ultra-high-speed battle will continue in V Jump's super-sized May edition! Blink and you'll miss it!!
