Saiyan Day Present Campaign! Check Out How We Recreated Vegeta's Battle Armor!

The Dragon Ball Official X account is holding the Saiyan Day Present Campaign from March 18 17:09 - March 22 23:59 (JST).
A recreation of Vegeta's iconic battle armor is up for grabs in this giveaway, and here in this article, we'll be outlining the creation process!​

Creation of the Battle Jacket

First up, we created the basic pattern for the battle armor while referencing illustrations and designs from the original series.
We took special care when creating the torso portion to ensure that it would have a realistic, humanoid shape.

Next, we went about making the various parts of the battle suit! Hard sponge and other materials were used for this, onto which we then applied vinyl leather.

Finally, we went about coloring and aging the battle jacket portion to finish things off!
We even managed to get the colors down to a T!

Creation of the Gloves

With the torso bit done, we next moved on to making the gloves!
Once again, we started by creating the pattern. These gloves contain lots of complicated parts, so we were super careful while cutting each piece.
Since we were working with leather again, we made sure not to make any mistakes while sewing everything together.

Our efforts paid off with the completed version you see here!
Leather offers a luster that looks awesome in action!

Creation of the Inner Suit

We weren't done yet though, as we still had the inner suit to make!
Despite having a simple design, making this part look realistic when worn required a custom pattern.
We ultimately chose to use a thick jersey fabric so that the wearer would be able to pull off agile moves like the Saiyan prince himself!

While sewing, the chest portion was kept loose to create a broad look, while the waist part was tapered so there would be a visible line of contrast.

The finished inner suit has a slick, cool look while still boasting the elasticity needed to be useful in battle!

Ta-Da! Battle Armor Complete!

Check out how awesome everything looks when all the different parts are put on together!
It took 160 hours of full-power work from the creation team to make this armor that surely even Vegeta would be proud to wear into battle!
