The first-ever world tournament for the exhilarating four-on-four team battle game DRAGON BALL GEKISHIN SQUADRA took place at the SQUADRA BLAST WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP 2026 FINALS on August 23rd (JST)! After battling their way through the preliminary stages on their respective servers, the top team from ASIA, NA, EU, and SA gathered in Japan to battle it out in offline warfare! Which team managed to reach the mountaintop and claim the title of world champion? While fans were able to tune in online to watch the tournament live, the Dragon Ball Official Site is here to bring you our own report on all the action, including a look at the venue and more!

On the day of the championship, each team took to the stage in special uniforms featuring none other than their very own player names!

A Double-Elimination Tournament!

The FINALS took place under double-elimination rules; any team defeated twice would be out of the tournament. This meant that teams who lost their first-round UPPER SEMIFINAL matches could still reach the GRAND FINAL by fighting their way through the LOWER bracket!

The Stage Was Also a Sight To Behold!

The stage featured several large monitors that offered those viewing the broadcast a first-hand look at which characters each player was using interspersed with cutaways to some impressive graphics, such as whenever a team won a match!

The FINALS Participation Commemorative Award and Championship Trophy!

A plaque commemorating the players who participated in the FINALS and the championship trophy were on full display in the center of the stage between the opposing teams, both of which featured a design exclusive to this tournament!

We were allowed to take some photos of the trophy up close! Its truly spectacular design feels like it captures a momentary flash of light in the heat of battle! Which team emerged victorious and lifted it high in triumph?

Tournament Highlights!

At last, the tournament FINALS were underway! Here's a breakdown on some of the highlights from each game in the intense UPPER SEMIFINAL matches!

In the first match of the UPPER SEMIFINAL, Nautilus' Bardock demonstrated the kind of toughness you'd expect of a Tank by drawing the attention of three opponents while holding down the front line and using the Dende helper to stay alive!

Nautilus maintained a calm composure throughout the match and stamped their ticket to the UPPER FINAL with a 2-0 victory over LATENT!

In the second match of the UPPER SEMIFINAL, RamGoat defeated Boyfriends, defying the community predictions that favored their opponents! It initially seemed as though they would keep their momentum going into the second game, but Boyfriends managed to defeat all three bosses, Jackie Chun, Nappa, Jaco, then KO'd all four members of RamGoat to wrap things up.

Now in the driver's seat, Boyfriends secured their spot in the UPPER FINAL with a victory in the third game!

The two losing teams from the UPPER SEMIFINAL matches, LATENT and RamGoat, squared off next in the LOWER SEMIFINAL. RamGoat took the first game, while the second game went to LATENT, leaving the match at one win apiece. In the decisive third game, RamGoat utilized Super Saiyan Son Goku and Majin Buu (Pure), characters capable of bursting down bosses to tip the battle in their favor! In the final phase of the match, the highly mobile Bulma (Youth) defeated the God of Destruction Heles and broke through to the Dragon Ball in one fell swoop. With that, RamGoat advanced to the LOWER FINAL, once again putting them one step closer to claiming the championship.

Having won their respective UPPER SEMIFINAL matches, team Nautilus from ASIA and team Boyfriends from NA faced off in the UPPER FINAL, with the winner of this crucial match securing their place in the GRAND FINAL!

Both teams got off to a slow start in the first game, but ten minutes in, three members of Boyfriends took advantage of a momentary opening to cut deep into their opponent's side, swiftly took down their last God of Destruction, and secured the Dragon Ball! In the second game, Nautilus demonstrated some truly world-class play, such as combining Bulma (Youth)'s "Let's Drive!" Super Attack with Super Saiyan God Son Goku's "Arcane Shot" Skill from long range to land a devastating one-two blow!

However, Boyfriends turned the tables in a rather dramatic fashion with pinpoint attacks at key moments to defeat the boss Jaco! Boyfriends controlled the battle from the midpoint onwards and clinched victory to become the first team to advance to the GRAND FINAL!

After a brief intermission, the LOWER FINAL between Nautilus from ASIA and RamGoat from EU kicked off, with the last spot in the GRAND FINAL on the line. With the match coming down to the wire and neither team giving an inch, it all boiled down to the third game. In an intense back-and-forth game, RamGoat demonstrated masterful technique by using Frieza (Fourth Form)'s Death Beam to break through the opponent's Dragon Shell, then seized the Dragon Ball to earn a spot in the GRAND FINAL.

At long last, it was time for the GRAND FINAL! Both teams took to the stage with members from NA's Boyfriends each striking poses with their own unique flair on the way out, while the RamGoat EU team maintained a stoic demeanor throughout their entrances. Boyfriends had previously prevailed in their first encounter during the second match of the UPPER SEMIFINAL, but which team would lady luck smile down upon in their rematch?!

The first game got off to a slow start with both teams leveling up steadily. The tide began to turn when Nappa spawned on the map and RamGoat secured the kill for a buff and XP boost, allowing them to KO members of Boyfriends one by one. With RamGoat's Bulma (Youth) tearing around the map, Boyfriends tried to play cautiously, but RamGoat never relented in their offense and pushed on through to seize the first game!

The early stages of the second game also saw both teams sizing each other up. Whenever RamGoat went on the offensive, Boyfriends strongly fended off their attacks, resulting in a neck-and-neck battle. However, the tides truly turned at the eight-minute mark when an all-out brawl saw both teams swarming to the front line, where RamGoat KO'd all 4 members of team Boyfriends one after the other!

After breaking through the front line, members from RamGoat made their way to the Dragon Shell and secured the win! With that, RamGoat had redeemed their loss in the second match of the UPPER SEMIFINAL to emerge victorious in the SQUADRA BLAST WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP 2026!

With their victory secured, members of RamGoat erupted in joy, their smiles suggesting a wave of relief had washed over them. We saw each team member sharing hugs, as they savored their victory.

A Heartwarming Awards Ceremony!

Representatives of each team who took part in the FINALS lined up for the awards ceremony. DRAGON BALL GEKISHIN SQUADRA's chief producer, Toshi, presented each team's representative with a commemorative plaque for their participation.

The excitement in the room reached a frenzy upon RamGoat being handed their trophy!

After a series of intense and hard-fought battles, RamGoat was crowned as champions of the world! The shared belief in their teammates and relentless drive for victory truly transcended the screen, touching the hearts of players around the world!
