From the countdown to the start of DRAGON BALL Games Battle Hour 2022
DRAGON BALL Games Battle Hour 2022 (DBGBH 2022 herein), the ultimate celebration of Dragon Ball games, was held across two jam-packed days on February 19 and 20 (JST). In this article, we're following up on our recap of Day 1 of DBGBH 2022 by going over the events of Day 2 for those who missed out or who just want to reminisce. If you see something that catches your fancy or that you want to see again, be sure to head over to the video archives to watch it!
Returning from last year's Battle Hour (DBGBH 2021), Another Showdown was powered up and ready to rumble!
This year, viewers were given the opportunity to go head-to-head in Dragon Ball Legends against none other than the game's producer, TOSHI! He took to the Online Arena and broadcasted his PvP lobby code for all to see—whoever entered it in-game the fastest would be the one to face him. Just what kind of battles were in store? And could TOSHI defend his honor and take home the win?
As soon as the program began, comments from viewers came flooding in.
"He looks confident!" "I've been waiting for this!"
Some, however, seemed to be concerned about TOSHI!
"I don't want to see TOSHI get pummeled!"
Just how did the battles unfold?!
TOSHI came into the first match with a party consisting of Frieza and Frieza Force characters that was sure to be super effective against any Saiyan opponents.
After TOSHI's first Rising Rush was easily dodged, he remarked, "My heart just stopped for a moment." However, he managed to pull off a win and defend his pride as a producer.
Luckily, TOSHI chose the right card and got a "Success" against his opponents Rising Rush, stopping the attack.
He couldn't hide his excitement and immediately shouted, "Alright!"
Matches 2 and 3 were equally hard-fought. After the broadcast, we asked TOSHI how he was feeling.
"My hands are sweating so much. (laughs) It's nothing like when I play by myself, and being watched by so many people around the world just makes me so nervous."
"To be honest, I've been practicing ever since we put together the original plan for Another Showdown, even going so far as to get special training from the strongest people I know at the company. I also planned out my parties way in advance, but I was so nervous that I completely forgot to change to a different one for the 2nd match. I wish I could apologize to my opponent for that round directly. At the very least, I think it turned into an excellent showcase for Vegeta (TOSHI's opponent for the 2nd match used a party centered around Vegeta), so it was pretty interesting battle for those watching at home, even if I did lose."
"Being able to play against our users like this really drives home the fact that there's so many people out there playing and enjoying Dragon Ball Legends. They all just know the game so well, including each individual characters' abilities and how to precisely position themselves to get the advantage."
"If we do this again, I think it might be best to play while lying down in bed, like I usually do at home. Although even then I think I'd be too nervous for it to make a difference."—TOSHI
Battling a wave of nerves, TOSHI was using both English and Japanese to provide commentary to viewers worldwide while playing, but he also remarked, "If I concentrate too much on the game, I won't be able to speak."
A special Dragon Ball Super Card Game exhibition match was held between two champions.
At the World Championship last year, Andrew Dovale was declared number one after fighting for his spot against players from every region and would now be defending his title at DBGBH 2022! His opponent was Bryan Samuel, the winner of the Special Exhibition Tournament that was held during last year's DBGBH 2021! It was time for these two champions to go head-to-head to decide which of them is truly the world's best player!
Bryan Samuel (left) and Andrew Dovale (right) fought tooth and nail until they both had just 1 life remaining,
but in the end it was Andrew who took the win.

A challenge was put forth to recreate one of the DBGBH 2022 key visuals as a fully 3D diorama figure!
Two legendary Dragon Ball figure sculptors and an expert colorist came together to create an amazing diorama figure from scratch.
Goku and Vegeta were each handle by a different sculptor, one a master a hand-sculpting, the other a pro at digital modelling. Their work came together with the help of a talented colorist to finish it off, and the result was a one-of-a-kind masterpiece, despite being made under a strict deadline.
