Story

Cell is the culmination of Dr. Gero's extensive research—the ultimate Android created from the cells of the world's most powerful fighters, including Goku and Piccolo, as well as those from invading threats like Vegeta, Frieza, and King Cold when they came to Earth. Since Cell possesses their data, he can make full use of all of their techniques and abilities.
In age 788 of a future timeline, he stole Trunks' time machine and travelled back in time to the present to absorb Android 17 and Android 18 and achieve his Perfect Form.

Cell attacked the people living in Ginger Town and absorbed their life force for energy. He displayed his incredible strength while overpowering even Piccolo, who had just merged with Kami.

Cell was able to fend off Android 16 and Android 17's fierce attacks with relative ease and absorbed the latter into himself to achieve his Second Form.

Cell sheds his shell as he grows, just like a cicada!

In order to fit inside the time machine he stole, Cell had to revert himself to his egg state. He then emerged as a cicada-like creature before growing into the fearsome monster we know. It took around 3 years of incubating underground for him to hatch out of his egg!
