The Weekly ☆ Character Showcase is an article series where we introduce one character from the Dragon Ball universe each week. This week, we're being briefed on Mai from the Goku Training Arc!

Mai is one of Pilaf's subordinates and carries out missions for him to advance his plot to take over the world.
She spots Goku and the others while performing reconnaissance in area H-15 and gives Shu the order to move in and attack with the objective of stealing their Dragon Balls.

When Goku and the others come to the Pilaf Gang's castle headquarters to reclaim their stolen Dragon Balls, only to fall victim to a trap and find themselves imprisoned, Mai is the one who suggests using sleeping gas on them to search their possessions for the remaining ball. A pretty great idea, as it turns out, as she soon finds the Four-Star Dragon Ball on Goku's unconscious body.

Later, Goku manages to break free from the steel prison he and the others were being kept in by looking at the full moon and transforming into a Great Ape. In the ensuing destruction that all but reduces the Pilaf Gang's castle to rubble, Mai is forced to make a hasty escape wearing the nightgown she was sleeping in.
