The Weekly ☆ Character Showcase is an article series where we introduce one character from the Dragon Ball universe each week.
This time, we're meeting the stylish cyborg known as Android 17!

Android 17 is a half-human, half-machine created by the evil scientist Dr. Gero.
Android 18 is actually his twin sister, and when they were still regular humans their names were Lapis and Lazuli.
Both are fitted with perpetual energy reactors, meaning they have effectively infinite stamina.

He and Android 18 then go on to activate Android 16, and together the three set out on their journey to locate Goku.
17 shows his incredible strength again when he quickly disposes of Trunks, who had cut in on Android 18's duel against Vegeta, and he is also able to easily deal with both Tenshinhan and Piccolo.

It seems that Android 17 might be lost for good after Cell is destroyed by Gohan during the Cell games, but he is later resurrected with the power of the Dragon Balls.

Techniques

Barrier

This technique can protect its user from a multitude of attacks. Android 17 uses his Barrier to great effect in his battle against Piccolo, where he renders himself untouchable by the innumerable Ki Blasts that Piccolo fires at him.
